Blogspot Links Abused by Hackers to Redirect Users to Malicious Sites

Hackers are now using Blogger (formerly known as Blogspot) links, to redirect users to harmful websites in a campaign dubbed “ApateWeb.” This tactic involves sharing seemingly legitimate links on social media, which briefly load a Blogspot page before redirecting to malicious sites.

Cybersecurity researchers discovered that hackers are exploiting Blogspot links by embedding social media meta tags. These links, once clicked, redirect users through multiple stages to malicious destinations, including phishing sites and malware pages. Over 9,500 domains have been identified in this campaign, hosted on IP ranges linked to AS 39572 and AS 7979. The attackers use advanced techniques like user agent detection and obfuscated JavaScript to evade security measures.

Authorities are actively monitoring and blocking the malicious domains involved in this campaign. They advise users to be cautious when clicking on links, even from trusted sources, and are working to enhance detection capabilities to prevent future attacks.
