The Russian-speaking AlphV/BlackCat ransomware group is suspected to be behind the attack, exploiting a vulnerability in remote-access software to gain access. The attack has caused widespread disruption to the U.S. healthcare system, affecting treatment and financial operations.
The company has shut down affected systems, notified impacted individuals, and is working with federal agencies to investigate the breach. Recommendations for affected individuals include monitoring credit reports and being vigilant for signs of identity theft.
