HPE Investigates Data Breach Claims by Hacker IntelBroker

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is currently investigating claims of data breach by the hacker known as IntelBroker. The hacker has allegedly stolen sensitive data and is offering it for sale on BreachForums.

IntelBroker, a well-known figure in the hacking community, announced on January 16 that they had obtained source code, private GitHub repositories, Docker builds, and digital certificates from HPE systems. The hacker also claims to have access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) related to old user deliveries and several HPE services, including APIs and platforms like WePay, GitHub, and GitLab. IntelBroker has a history of targeting major organizations, including Cisco, General Electric, and Europol.

In response to these claims, HPE has activated its cyber response protocols, disabled related credentials, and launched a thorough investigation to assess the validity of the breach. HPE Spokesperson, Adam R. Bauer, confirmed that there has been no operational impact on the company and no evidence that customer data has been compromised. The investigation is ongoing as cybersecurity experts work to determine the scope and potential risks of the alleged breach. However, previous victims of IntelBroker, including Cisco, have verified the authenticity of when their data was leaked and stated that the impact was not as severe as the group had implied.
