The U.S. Department of the Treasury has penalized Beijing-based cybersecurity company Integrity Technology Group, Inc. for its alleged involvement in hacking incidents targeting critical U.S. infrastructure. Announced on January 3, 2025, these measures are part of a broader effort to combat cyber threats from China.
Integrity Technology Group is accused of conducting cyberattacks, including those linked to the Chinese state-sponsored Flax Typhoon campaign, which has targeted sectors such as telecommunications, government, and media in the U.S. and abroad.
The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) aims to disrupt the company’s operations by blocking access to U.S. property and bank accounts and preventing business with American entities. Acting Under Secretary Bradley T. Smith emphasized the U.S. government’s commitment to holding malicious cyber actors accountable.
In response, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington denied the allegations, accusing the U.S. of making groundless accusations and smearing China’s reputation.
The Treasury Department’s actions reflect a broader strategy to counter persistent cyber threats and protect national security.
